In bernie's "anyone else do this?" thread on this forum, he mentioned a dream about playing with chocolate chip cookies. I enjoyed that post and got to wondering how prevalent poker dreams are.

I have just started to dream about poker. Weird, I play almost exclusively online (only one B&M experience) and yet the dreams always take place in a B&M (probably influenced by posts I've read).

I don't remember them that well, but it seems like I'm always seeing the flop. If I wake up from one I always have a smile on my face, must have been a good flop!

Anyway, I was wondering how many other people do this and if you have any dreams (or snippets of) that you'd like to share.

i wondered by the title if it was because you saw that post...heh heh...i wonder what the shrinks would say about that one...

if im really into something, ill dream about it...especially if ive been studying it....

when i was learning how to play guitar, i dreamt a little demon sitting on a rock with a sitar fingerpicking 'runnin with the devil' by van halen....it was great to watch. of course i sleep with the radio or cd on so sometimes a tune will come through in a dream...whether performing it, or on a radio in my dream...

but about poker...

yep...the other night i lost a set over set hand....set of Ks over set of 6s...funny, on the turn i knew what he had, called the river, leaned over and said show me the kings, which he did...

ive dreamt of just playing a session...but nothing major happened. i also dont always win. kinda sucks when ya cant even kick ass in your own dream...but sometimes ill pull a beautiful, Unger like, move. then i lose a hand later...
sometimes though, the hand can be an interesting hand..and then there's a table discussion...in my dream....thats always kinda fun...

one for the road:

dreaming one time, i was in a casino, and it felt like someone was grabbing my wallet. so as i jerked around with my hand to my back pocket, but in my sleep, i elbowed the hell out of this gal i slept with that night....i woke up instantly, got my bearings, then asked how she was....she just kinda groaned...felt like a real A-Hole on that one. i caught her pretty hard. she laughed when i called her later the next night to apologize again...

I don't remember any poker dreams, but back when I played mostly blackjack I had one. After a week of long days playing blackjack in Vegas, my dream was strange b/c in hindsight I think I was acting some of it out. The dream: I was playing blackjack on a table with felt that had the pattern of the hotel bedspread (went straight from Vegas to Atlanta for a business trip). The felt wasn't tight on the table, it was loose like the bedspread. I woke up when the dealer kept yelling at me for not acting fast enough, but I couldn't act b/c the cards kept getting under the "felt" where I couldn't tell what I had. When I woke up I was sitting up in bed like I was at a table - really wierd.

I had dreams about Poker almost all the time when I was intensly reading books on Poker and also when I was watching Poker Videos, but more often when i fell asleep reading. The dreams were great because I could control my own cards. I sort of remember one, when I was sitting in a B&M cardroom and I had a pair of 10's before the flop. The flop came up garbage, but I was able to control my dreams, and I would make the turn and river come runner runner 10 and I would win the pot. Poker is much better when you are dreaming about it because you can anticipate what cards are coming out and usually you'll win every hand if you can control your dreams.

Iv had several dreams about poker and they usually come when Ive been winning.According to my wife one night I woke her up and started yelling at her to show her cards to the dealer so she could take down the pot.First I dont remember doing this apperently poker has caused me to sleep walk and talk and second my wife doesnt even play poker.

I used to have a recurring nightmare that I bet on the river, was called, and couldn't turn over my cards. Or when I'd get them over they would be different from what I had when I bet.

Hmm, I think I'll mention this to my therapist today.

I find my poker dreams are very similar in the way that they are very stressful. Such as cards changing... or can't turn cards over. I wonder y?

man, i've had dreams back to back now since this post went up. I dreamt that I was at the Trop in Atlantic City, I posted my name on the 7.50-15.00 list and there was an open seat. I go there and look over at the floor manager and point at my seat and she tells me I can't sit there. I'm thinking what the hell......why won't they let me sit in. So.....i keep to myself.....and then I see that the game is breaking up, so I go to the main game and they deal me a hand, I'm UTG +1 and didn't post anything but I got dealt in, I get dealt......AK8-3 cards, UTG raised and I thought ok...so I folded. The game was Pineapple I stood up and left the game. Then I woke up.

Yep, I have too - the bad ones that others have mentioned. They seem very similar to other bad dreams about college when I was there - couldn't find a classroom at finals (can't find my two cards - the nuts).

I did for the first time last night.

I saw Daniel Negreanu hammering a $20-40 online table. I think we were both in some random apartment.

I noticed that he had a stat saying "% of showdowns won: 99," and I asked him how was able to do that. He said, "If I don't see two red kings or better, I'm gone."

I trust this has been enlightening.

just last night i had this one:

i'm in a holdem game with like 15 people...it's not clear what position i'm in but a gazillion limpers and i have 87s...flop comes 559 and everyone checks! turn is a six! woohoo!...i get ready to bet but notice the player next to me is flashing her (heh) cards...she has presto...pocket fives!...since i don't think i can push her off her hand i fold...at the showdown one of her fives has become a 3 and she wins with trip fives!...oh well, that's what i get for playing too tight...i'm going to loosen up some...

I have a couple of different poker/gambling dreams. In one, I'll be playing in a huge hold 'em pot; I've got the stone cold nuts, and money keeps pouring into the pot. Finally, it usually ends one of two ways. Either I wake up before I pull down the pot, or I get paid in really weird looking chips I can't cash.

I've also had dreams where I was in Vegas trying to get into either a great poker or craps game, and I either can't find my money or don't have any money on me. The ATM's don't work... aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh..... lol.
