This one's tough. Smallie plays for just about his whole stack in a couple hands, but you're not looking great either. I'm interested in hearing what some other posters have to say about this hand, since I struggle with these situations a bit too.

I will say one thing though...you're not playing for first anymore. Your sole intent here should be to get ITM.

You must be talking about a stop-n-go since surely you know that if you push pre-flop, he's calling you right?

Either way, I prefer the check-fold here.

I thought that by calling, I would get ITM, because I would just be 1 more hand for the short stack to beat... If I lose, I get 3rd anyways, because I had more chips at the start of the hand.

In this situation, I could have folded and got 2nd, but I had NO idea that 2nd stack was going to go all in also.

That one is tricky. I would probably fold preflop since two vs smallstack is good enough odds to get into the money.

Well small stack is all-in, one big calls, and the other one should call with any 2 for 60 more. Even if you push no one is folding and is Q9s really that great? I think it's fold or push and I would probably fold.

Yeah, but calling along decreases his odds even more. What if one of them folds postflop to a dumb side pot play? What if they fold postflop?

I want my chips knocking out third place guy there. I think calling along and check-calling accomplishes this best.

hmmm... I see the reason for calling it down. If he wins you are screwed as the short stack anyway, so saving those chips is not much help. If you both lose you are still third. If you should win you have a chance. Intersting...

I guess one could reason like this: If the other small stack wins the hand you will most likely go out fourth even if you fold. So it is better to call and try to quadruple your stack if you hit a good flop. If you fail, you will still end up third if the other small stack loses. If you succeed you have a shot of making it above 3rd. Besides if smallstack wins and you end up making the second best hand, you still have somewhat of a shot.

Interesting hand.
