Have recently been trying, as is suggested, to maximise the profit and make my opponents make a mistake but have been struggling with how to play my set on the river when a flush card hits.

For example was in bb in second hand, decent buy in but poor standard in general. Had 88, 6 limpers as bb was only 20 decided to check and play for set.

Flop came 8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 7 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, I checked lp bet 80 I raise to 250 everyone folds and he calls.

Turn is 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, i bet 500 he calls.

River is J /images/graemlins/heart.gif, I have 650 chips left and there's 1620 in the pot what do you do?

Do you check and fold? Check and call any bet? Check and call a small bet? Bet small and fold to raise? Or raise all in?

As I say a situation I always seem to mess up, if I check they've got two pair, if I raise they've got the the flush.

Is there a line that is generally thought to be best. Should I just bet more on the flop and push the turn?
