At the time I really didn't think a worse hand was calling me very often on this board, and the villain was particularly passive, so I checked behind, but I really think I should have value bet, since even if villain is rarely calling here, he's also probably never check raising, so it seems like a bet is OK now that I've had time to think about it.

So if he's rarely calling, its not really a value bet. If there is no chance he will call there is no point of betting.

Now say u were to switch positions, I like a check from MP1. As if u bet, he will fold or raise, or call. If u check, he may check behind, but he could bet, and u call. Its more +EV to check if you are first to act. Well against a more aggressive player it is. Passive play you'd want to bet. Calling station you'd want to bet.

oreogod i found your post confusing. I would value bet this. What do u think villian has? Which busted draw? Was he ace chasing with a crappy kicker? I think he is calling down with a pair lower than yours or with a weaker kicker. He will call on the river IMO

OP said he will rarely call. NM misread it.

I did say to bet against a passive/calling station player, though.

Gist of my previous post:
1.Bet against passive/calling stations. (Unless u believe your hand has less than a 50 percent chance of being ahead, in which case a check behind is better)
2.When OOP if u think u have 50 percent chance of having the best hand against an aggressive opponent, its +EV to check.

NM, my post is all screwed up and is just talking about river play in general. Sorry.

Simply put, if you're not betting this river you're not making a lot of extra money.

This post is Hemmingway to my Ulysses.

Much more streamlined, but it was what I was trying to say, just not in readable form.
