1) Were you going to c/r MP?

2) I usually fold this preflop out of position, facing a raise and a couple callers (unless it's suited). Is this a standard defense?

thats a conundrum, good fold. at 54/17 why not reraise MP preflop?

I think this is a pretty easy call pf. Looks like you probably played this well. I am not sure I could have resisted threebetting that flop.

I thought about it for a good while. It doesn't really help protect my hand but it has good value. I figured I could see how much the flop bettor likes his hand (he's likely not betting then folding for 2 more anyway), and try to check raise the turn if the conditions seemed favorable.
