What is the difference between a call, a cold call and a limp? Thanks.

Limp: to enter a pot pre-flop without raising. For example, you bet $3 pre-flop in a $3-$6 game.

Call: To match the bet to you. For example, "The first player limped and I called" would mean that the first player did not raise pre-flop and you did not either.

Cold Call: To match a raised bet without reraising. For example, "The first player raised and I cold called" would mean the first player made it two bets to go and you paid the two bets.

Limping is often used synonymously with call, btw, but limping is only used when describing pre-flop action. So, it is possible for there to be more than one limpers.

Call is the most inclusive term. Limping and cold calling are both "calls".
