Like usual I couldn't get the hand converter to work... Anyways, who calls this extreme overbet push here? What range of hands do you put the guy on for a bet like this?

EDIT: sorry... reads: nothing special, knocked a guy out with KK vs JJ early on. I don't usually play the $200s, so I hadn't played with him before...

Who's the pusher and do you have any read?

I see so many people do this with middle pairs I'd almost put him on TT if you didn't have the other two.

Any reads? Without any, it's impossible to tell, and I likely fold, but I am sure by the time 50/100 comes around, and the fact he's picked up some chips, you have some idea on the player he is, so please share..

my bad... see the edit...

basically, no I didn't have any reads.

Eh...it just smacks of a fly trap or, more likely, some guy going 'well, I don't know how to play this so I'll push.'

I call this when I'm feeling frisky but usually fold it.

Nevermind, blinds are 50/100? I fold.

Level 4: fold.
Level 5+: push.

Yeah, I think this is a fold for me. At 100/200 I would call it.

I'd fold only because it smells of AK or JJ. Doubling up would be killer here, but you've also got a nice enough stack to have it be effective against these guys.

wait... so you guys think this push indicates a stronger hand on level 4 than it would on level 5?

What range of hands do you put him on?

I fold. I put him on AA-99, AK, with QQ-TT being more likely than hand distribution alone would indicate.

tigerite

Nothing to do with that, more to do with the BB argument, when I have 16 BB there's plentiful opportunities to steal, unless it's the very last hand of 50/100 or something? But at 100/200 then it's only 8BB and I'm unlikely to get a hand better than TT before having to go all in anyway, therefore it's a much easier call.

As for the range, god knows, AA-88 and AK, maybe AQ. How did he play the KK? Did he push that, too?

This stinks of 99-JJ. I might put 88 in the range as well.

I can't see anybody doing this with AK.

I prolly take this gamble and get queasy when he flips JJ.

I put the guy on 55-JJ, AK, AQ. Nobody plays AA-QQ like this. Honestly I was expecting to see either 88 or AK.

Ill echo a couple people here.

At level 4, I fold, Just because your in good shape, and at 17xBB, you have no reason to call this.

At level 5, Ill push over.

Now, saying that no one plays AK like this is clearly wrong, he can have any hand actually here, so its hard to put him on a range, if you give us his screen name, it makes the process a lot easier. As you can break down his hand range.

Ive called these pushes before with AA/KK, and saw a lot of different hands from 55, 99, AA, AK, JJ...

I've seen you play the $215s and know you are clearly a very good player. It makes plenty of sense to me that with a pair vulnerable to overcards one would push and take the 150 in chips even though you pusher has 17BB. But what would be the logic behind doing it with AK or as you also mentioned AA-QQ?

deception:

against a player who you think is thinking enough to think "hey, he'd do this with 88-TT and maybe some smaller pairs" doing it with big pairs (possibly only with big pairs) gets you called by people with TT and the like sometimes.

I definitely agree with this range. If it isnt this range, it is definitely something close. I would expect him to have 88 here too. I think I call this huge overbet.

Well more replies are welcomed, however the results of the hand are in white below

>> In the real hand, I had 99. I really felt I was ahead so I called... he turned over QT (that's right, QUEEN TEN). Flop came K93 giving me a set, turn 6, river J to make him a fukin straight <<

Possibly a bad call (or at least an unnecessary call) on my part, but I have no goddamn clue what he was thinking.

Anyways, more thoughts on the hand are appreciated...
