I have a friend that tells me that video poker is on its last breath in North Carolina. Harrah's apparently has lobbied a few state legislators and wants it dead so it can have a monopoly on video poker in North Carolina.
This is all made even more likely seeing as how North Carolina is tired of pissing money away to Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina (don't know about VA) due to a lack of their own state lottery corporation.
Perhaps this also means that Harrah's will push for another casino in North Carolina. If they want video poker to be made illegal through the whole state, and not just in the counties surrounding Cherokee, maybe they're looking for more American Indian suitors in the piedmont and coastal areas of the state (maybe the Catawbas?). Just a thought, but if someone has any other info on this post, I'd love to hear it.
