This is a multi table tourney at a casino, rebuy period is over. average stack is about 4K. I'm sitting at 3K. UTG has me covered at about 5K. Lots of loose players, UTG is solid though.

Blinds are 100/200. I'm dealt A-Ko in the BB. UTG raises to $700. 2 players in MP call, SB folds, I call.

Flop is 9-9-3...

I check, UTG bets $1000, everyone folds, I fold.

This was a hand I played a long time ago that still bothers me.

I think I should have pushed my A-K pre-flop? Agree? The blinds at these games go up very quickly.

At the minimum, I should probably have check raised a push after the flop.

Open to advice.

Push pre-flop. Last thing you want is to have AK against 3 players. At the very least you want to isolate.

I'd check-fold the flop because you're up against 3 players. Very difficult to semi-bluff and you only have 6 outs. They would call with lots of pairs because of the odds. You don't have much folding equity so a check-raise just won't work.

this is simply a must-push preflop. the fact that he's solid doesn't for a second convince me that you should hesitate here. and why did you check the flop? there's a very good chance you have the best hand here.

i push pre-flop.

i think check/folding the flop is fine. it's pretty likely somebody has a hand like 77 that doesn't go anywhere.

This makes it an obvious push.

There is a very small chance the hero has the best hand against a pre-flop raiser and two limpers. I'll guarantee somebody has a middle pair and they won't be scared by that board.
