River cap is close. I think this is just as likely to be a slowplayed 77-99 before JT or 56. I assume you lost the hand given the title of your post.

I wouldn't be afraid to cap the river here, as I think you'll see some raggy 2 pair or slowplayed set often enough.

Yeah, the results oriented nature of the title probably clouded my judgement there. No way you can automatically assume his 3-bet means he has the straight. If he has it less than 50% vs. 2-pair or a smaller set, a cap is totally justified.

At best you could have saved 1BB by not capping the river. However, how could he not have cr the turn? I don't see anything wrong with capping here as you usually have villian beat.
