I am new to 2 plus 2, but I have lurked for some time. I have been just playing micro limits for about a month on Pacific Poker. Although my bank roll allows for higher limits I have just been fiddling around in 10-20 cent limit rooms. My question is...assuming I only started with 5 dollars playing 10-20 cent limit, what size of a bankroll should I have to proceed to .5/1.,1/2, 2/4, and so on. Any advice on bankroll size needed to play those limits would be greatly appreciated.

300+ big bets.

.5/1 = $300
1/2 = $600

and so on.

The NORMAL answer is 300 Big bets but I don't agree at all with it.

When you think you have a level beaten - make a strike up north, just a little one - get your feet wet, get used to seeing larger bets.

you will not see any difference in talant at that level. Just sticker shock at larger bets.

300 BBs is if you NEVER want to put a dime into your bank, it's your lifes earnings.

I think people spend to much time in lower levels worried about the size of their bank.

I usually try to keep 5000 big bets for the limit I'm playing. Sometimes if I'm feeling frisky I might take a shot with 3 or 4 thousand though.

Dude, you're under bankrolled for the .10 game!

Not only that but Pacific doesn't have a .10/.20 LHE game...

Is this a joke? 5000 big bets? I consider myself a bankroll nit too but this is way too conservative unless you are afraid of moving up. The play at all of the lower/middle limits is so bad that 250 big bets is enough to take a shot at a limit.

Fairly sure he's joking. If not, one of my friends had a 30,000 bankroll at 3/6 before jumping to 5/10. =P

I don't usually post in micro... and I would have thought so to... but this was not the first time today that I saw mention of having an insane number of bets for a low limit. *shrug*

Yeah I was joking :-P.

But I do like to have at least 500BB before moving up (just made the jump from 5/10 to 10/20 and I've got about 600BB behind). So maybe that makes me conservative, but I think these higher games have bigger variance due to more aggressive play so my extra caution is warranted.
