I play 5/10 and 10/20 NL, and I've been fairly succesful for a while now. Over the next year or so I will probably move up to the 25/50-ish level. If I'm good enough, that is. We'll have to see about that.
But all I ever play is NL. So far, higher variance, the need to learn and ridiculously few games available (except perhaps limit HE) have kept me back from other games. I'd have to play limit 100/200 and be good at it to make the same money I do now. Last limit HE game I played was 5/10, and way back then I was mediocre at best. So I played .25/.50 NL instead, and worked my way up.
What do you think, should I diversify my skills? All the games seem to have disadvantages to them, compared to NL. In the short term, any move seems -EV. More variance - even if I do learn, it'll take a while to figure if I really am good enough. Less, if any, games available. The need to start at a (much) lower level, incurring opportunity costs from not playing NL instead. Plus, I still do want to improve my NL game.
I'd love to be able to play all games at roughly the same level I play NL now. If only to fight the boredom. But there don't even seem to be many games - I see everything from five-stud to triple draw online, but never played for high stakes. And if it is, it's just one high stakes game and the next level is quarters. Not the gradual increase in stakes that allowed me to learn NL.
Does anybody here also play high stakes other games? Which did you learn first? What have your experiences been?
