I'm going to San Diego this weekend to visit my sister and her family. They are flying to there to visit grandma. Please help with family fun type things to do. We are definitely going to the beach. Also, my sister is a communist so we prefer nature type stuff and not shopping and fine dining.

thanks.

Have you not heard of the SD Zoo. That place is about as good as it gets, amazing. They also have a Wildlife Park there that I hear is awesome.

The first two replies pretty much nailed it. The zoo is fabulous.

wild animal park is way better than the zoo. IMHO plus alot less walking. Soak city is a water park in Chula Vista that's not bad. Good eats down by the convention center along the water, very casual burgers, ice cream stands, etc.. Mt. Soledad has great views of S.D.(in La Jolla) Plus you got Viejas, Sycaun, Oceans 11, Barona, and a couple small card clubs for your evening entertainment. Also Anehiem isn't too far for Disney. Have a Good trip Jay /images/graemlins/smile.gif

There's also a cool little mini theme park with a wooden roller coaster if you're interested. It's right on the water, I think a little south of Pacific Beach. It's called Belmont Park for no apparent reason.

If you have access to the equip, one thing that your family might enjoy is snorkeling in the La Jolla Cove. It is real close and easy with a lot to see. I like it at least.

Even if you don't want to go to the zoo, Balboa Park (where the zoo is located) is my favorite part of San Diego. The museums are all quite good, although I am not sure what is being exhibited right now.

And the Padres are on a homestand, if you want to check out Petco Park (its new!).

I just went to the Zoo this weekend. I hadn't been in forever. It was a good time. They have a knew monkey trails exhibit which is solid. If you do go don't pay extra for the tram and rail as they are not worth it.

I too like the wild animal park better as well. Look online as they have a special on tickets if you order online.

Sea world is probably the best of all 3, but the most expensive as well.

Balboa park area is great as well as someone above mentioned.

Have fun!!

Beach, SeaWorld (if you need any SW info, I used to work there, PM me. It is expensive though $50 per person, but you get a yearly pass), Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Belmont Park, Seaport Village, PetCo should cover it.

Yep, good point. Balboa park is very fun for a family outing.

The sign at Hooter's says it's a "Family Place."

Granted, there isn't much "natural" at the place, but at least it's not "fine dining."

The wildlife park is great. When I was there, the giraffes were having sex...fun for everyone.

LMFAO. Yeah Tj's a great place to take the fam, especially at night. Just bring plenty of $ to bribe the cops when they arrest you for the coke they put in your pocket /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

This is the best advice in the thread. You can even snorkel in about 5 foot water right out on La Jolla Beach. Nothing like following around a leopard shark as it swims within feet of all the people wading around. If they had any idea all the life around there that they were wading in they would freak out.

1) Like everyone has said, Zoo and Wild Animal Park, of course.

2) WTF? Why haven't I met your sister?

I'm in town next week. Come into town for beers and bring some pics.
