tomorrows event @ WSOP is 1k w/ rebuys, 1k chips to start, rebuy w/ 1k or less in chips, single or double add-on after 2nd round, 60 min rounds...

whats the best strategy...

my thought process is, rebuy before 1st hand giving myself 2k in chips, and play somewhat snug looking for a good spot to double during 1st 2 rounds, then doing a double add-on after the rebuy period is over...

any thoughts...

This should be good. Assuming you're at a skill disadvantage to the field, I'm not sure that rebuying if you bust during the rebuy period makes a ton of sense.

I was planning on double rebuying if I busted during 1st 2 rounds, if I felt the table was somewhat favorable...

Given the state of things these days, if he's a dog to the field, he has bigger problems than whether to make a rebuy.

Now, his particular table might be another story.

rebought before 1st hand, rocked out for a while, picked a few spots and built my stack to 6k by the end of the rebuy period...opted to not addon

cashed in the event, but didnt make day 2 ...

Rebought right away, worked the 2K up to 7500. Wasn't going to add-on but, with a nudge from some friends, decided to last minute. 2K for 2K in chips. 9500 at first break..

Hours 3 and 4 were a rollercoaster, and I got as low as 2500 in chips. Had 30K by dinner break. Going into day 2 as chip leader.

Excuse the self-promotion,

Shane

did you make your investment back?

I always take the add-on believing I need every advantage to get to the final table, but then, it's never cost me a grand before to do it - /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Shane,

Rooting for two people now, yourself and a friend (more of an acquaintance from another tourney, but a real good guy) Chuck Thompson.

Good Luck.

BTW, it looks like the add-on helped pull you through some dark times after the break. You think you'd still be there if you hadn't had the rebuy?

Cheers,
Frank

That's kind of what I was getting at, although it's entirely possible that I would have played differently with a shorter stack. Still, I think the moral is to always take the double add-on even when it doesn't make perfect mathematical sense.

I seem to recall Fossilman saying something (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=1145369&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1) about taking addons is always correct unless you already have would would be an average stack for when the field narrows to in the money. Which at the first break means "absolutely gigantic stack!!"
