View Full Version : In a slump, need some 2p2 advice

I have been playing 1/2 since I started playing limit poker. I have been pretty successful thus far (2.52/100 for what it's worth at 12,500 hands). Recently I have been playing a lot more and moved down to .5/1, as I heard it played more like 2/4 (which is where I'm looking to go). Since starting .5/1 my results have been marginal at best, and I have found myself in a downswing of sorts....

I realize that it could very well be short term varience. But just in case I have either failed to make adjustments or made ill advised ones I wanted to include some stats and some changes I've made.

Ironically, I feel my .5/1 stats look better than 1/2.

As for changes I've made I have been playing more hands and raising more hands. I have been folding less (which is hard for me because I ahve a tendency to fold too much but anytime I post a hand all I get is 30 ppl saying to not fold). I have been playing big draws multiway more aggressively, and blind stealing more often as well. That's all I can think of right now.

Anyways, I was getting a little discouraged and wanted to cover my bases here. Any advice is appreciated. G.S.

Can you post your aggression numbers? I can tell from looking at your W$SD for 1/2 and 2/4 that you are probably showing down only your very best hands. That is a mistake.

You are folding too many winners. My went to SD % is near or above 35 at all full ring levels.

And this is why Grandma's W$SD numbers are so high.

This is true.

Also, 3k hands is nothing. I've had -6 BB/100 3k hand stretches before. Keep playing.

This is the advice I always get and it confuses me. I am always inclined to think that my problem is paying off too much, and the forums are always telling me I do not pay off enough. Could someone include some examples pehaps?

You should be folding to a river bet more than 37% of the time, imo.

There's a pt patch to get rid of those negative table numbers. Might want to do it now before there's too many...

Anyone else have any opinions?

I don't understand what your problem is. And who told you that 2/4 plays more like 0.5/1. This is ridiculous. Just go and play 2/4. Maybe try some SH games before.

The point is that 1/2 is considered tighter than average on party.

True. Avoid 1/2 full but don't waste your time with 0.5/1. It won't help you. I think you should try some 6-max and generally loosen up a bit.
