View Full Version : Has anyone ever had an account closed to "Promotion Abuse"

The following is a cut and paste from one of the larger sites Terms and Conditions. Generally I only play at a site that is offering a bonus at the time as it is so significant to a new player. At the site in question I will move funds from Neteller to the site and back to Neteller just to take advantage of the reload bonuses. I am not sure if this constitutes "promotion abuse" or not. Here is the wording...

" Non compliance with these terms and conditions shall be deemed to be "Promotion Abuse" and as such shall give XXXXXX Poker Management the right at its sole discretion to take the following actions against such abusers; all winnings on any account/s opened will be null and void and call cash-outs will be cancelled where play has been deemed either abusive or as alleged collaborative efforts of players transferring funds during play. Abusing Player accounts may be terminated with immediate effect. Players found to be abusing promotions may be barred from receiving further promotional offers at the Cardroom. "

Yes, there were a few accounts closed on Empire. They picked out the players that only played while clearing a bonus.

Why not tell us the site this is from?

We had MANY 2+2'ers who had their accounts closed at Empire a few weeks ago.

And what site is this? If you post something like this, include the site. Otherwise this is a worthless post.

This was from Absolute. It mentions in the paragraph posted in my first post that abuse will be determined via the conditions in the rest of the T&C - which are the normal conditions you would expect for bonus clearing. No where does it say that your account could be suspended if you only play during times of a bonus. In the case of the Empire closures, did they give back any of the players money? Did Empire's T&C specifically mention that only playing when there is a bonus as being "promotion abuse"

What happened to them? Did they close their account or confiscate their entire roll?

it is virtually impossible to be playing at Absolute when there is NOT a bonus running, so your entire argument is moot.

you are king of the mediocre zoo posts this week so far

IMHO Absolute is doing CYA. A while ago they had an offer of open an account and get a free $10. A ton of accounts were created by a some people. The chips were dumped at the tables and attempted to be cashed out. This caused a huge problem for Absolute as nearly 2000 accounts were said to be created.

So, I can see why they would put this in there. I don't think you have anything to worry about if you keep your nose clean.

I think less than 5% of the population actually knows how to use the word "hence".

People misusing that word is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I love Nits.....

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=hence

Definition #1: For this reason

So to substitute:

it is virtually impossible to be playing at Absolute when there is NOT a bonus running. Hence why I play there.

it is virtually impossible to be playing at Absolute when there is NOT a bonus running. For this reason, why I play there.

Mow the inclusion of why is not perfect, but hardly a glaring misuse of the word hence.

Hence, you two language nits should not work so hard at looking smart.

People acting smart by being wrong is one of my biggest pet-peeves.

it's less than "not perfect," it's ungrammatical. they're being nits, but they're not wrong.

Excuse me for being a nit, I just hear it severely misused a lot, and it is a little irritating sometimes.

Irregardless of the use of hence it's understood. I play cause there is a perpetual bonii

I guess I should be more specific about what I plan on doing. I will move funds from Neteller to the site, clear the bonus, move funds to Neteller, and then back to the site.

Example

Friday reload bonus - move 500 from Neteller to site and get bonus

Sundayish (after 48 hour mandatory period) - move 400 to Neteller

Midweek - bonus has cleared as number of raked hands met

Friday - reload the 400 from Neteller back to the site.

I do not see anything in the T&C that forbids this.
