Anyone care to speculate? I have no idea. I guess it would be a good idea to break it down into general catagories based on stakes.

These are WAY more than I'd have guessed. Do you really think that 15-20% of online poker players are even AWARE of 2p2?

Of regular players? I'd expect there's a lot of players who buy in once or twice, and that's that. An while they certainly need to be counted/represented, I'm not sure how to do that.

I'm not sure 15-20% of the online players have even bothered reading A book (any book) on hold'em much less being 2+2'ers. If you think about it, that would be 3 2+2'ers at every 2 tables. Then you figure "most" 2+2'ers multi-table, every table would have 2+ 2+2'ers. If that's the case the tables above 2/4 must be 75% 2+2'ers.

doesn't 2+2 have like 60,000 acounts? Now admittedly over half of those are redpill's but thats still a lot /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Better question. How many 2+2ers are winning players?

Bodhi

Or how many become winning players? I think there's enough good info here for your average beginner to start beating the softer party games.

60,000 players on at once on the party network, probably upwards of 150-200,000 accounts there alone. Plus maybe 40-50,000 other UNIQUE players on all the other skins combined. By unique I mean simply those without accounts on a party skin. My guess is 5% or less of players KNOW about 2+2. I would venture to guess the percentage of B&M players is a ton more, maybe 30-40%.

if there are 60,000 twoplustwo accounts, figure that 30,000 were actually users as most people at least make 1 troll account if not many more.

most twoplustwoers, or many of them have retired from internet play or never played on the internet to begin with.

so figure 20,000 are internet players. how many people play poker on the internet? i have no idea. but its alot more than 20,000.

How do you reconcile the opinion that there are more studious B&M players with the fact that B&M players are generally much worse than online?

I'm more curious to know what percentage of online players oblivious to 2+2 are winning players. Any ideas?

as of this morning, Pokeredge, says that it is tracking >648,000 players.....and that's just Party skins....even taking into consideration multiple accounts....that's a BUNCH of players....could even be considered a "Large school of ____" (fill in the blank).

If 2+2 has >30,000 registered members that's less than 5% of Pokeredge's database....remember, they are just tracking Party skins....

I would say less than 5% of the online world posts here. In B&M play, that number probably shrinks, as someone else said, to 2-3%.

Keep in mind that this includes the huge number of 2/4-4/8 games out there - at higher limits, this number probably rises quickly. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

At top times 1000 readers on 2+2 and 60 000 on Party. Lets say any 1000 play online on average 4 tables = 4000. Means around 6% are 2+2 ers.

Just because 1,000 players are playing 4 tables each doesn't mean that you count them as 4,000 different people. You're also not taking into account other sites along with soooo many other factors.

I say less than 1% and it will always be that way. Most people play poker for recreation. Learning to play the game at a level that most 2+2'ers are at/aspire to is work. Of all the people I know IRL who play poker, there are only a few who take the time to study the game.

True, but the question is really asking "what percent of my opponents are 2+2ers" I think.

[ QUOTE ]

Also true. And I think you would find that there are a lot less 2+2ers at the sites without PT compatibility, or lesser PT compatibility (like no auto-import).

The article I read said about 1,000,000 Party accounts, but that Party estimated that 400,000 were active accounts.

[/ QUOTE ]

According to Sports Illustrated, there are roughly 1.9 million people playing online a day. The number has likely grown to about 2 million since the research they did was done (this is not unreasonable as they also quote the daily number being at 83,000 a day in 2003 before the Moneymaker explosion), and one can guess at the number of 2+2ers. If the number is around 30,000 members then that would be roughly 0.015%.

30,000 / 2,000,000 = 1.5%

the number sounds reasonable imo.
