I'm a limit player (4/8 to 20/40), but limit games are drying up, so I'm playing more NL.
I was averaging just under 1.5 big bets per hour in my regular 10/20 game.
But, I have no idea what my expected 'earn' in a 1/2 no limit game might be. Any insight greatly appreciated.
Since most of my play is bricks-and-mortar, please translate BB/100 to $/hour if possible.
Right now, my win rate is $30 per hour, but over a very small sample, so I'm trying to get a sense as to what's achievable in these baby no limit games.
Thanks

About -5BB/100hands.
Seriously, if you have no idea of what to expect in terms of win ratio, you need to drop limits until you do. Unless you have enough money to spend while learning. Some very good players have been posting about 10+ buyin downswings at NL. If you are used to limit swings, this could hit your BR pretty hard. That would be -2000$ at 1/2NL.

i dont think he should drop limits. he said hes primarily a B&M player. 1/2NL is the lowest you find in B&M play. hes a winner playing as high as 20/40L, and normally he plays at 10/20. if he plays between 10/20 and 20/40L with a sufficient BR, he certainly has enough money to start out in NL1/2

woops, didn't see the B&M thing
if it's online and he has no NL experience (i'm assuming he doesn't because he has no idea of his win rate), i still think he should drop.

this is very helpful. thanks.
if I was to play NL online, I'd play lower to establish my rates, the move up, but 1/2 is as low as it goes for B&M.
my local card room was busted (NYC), and atlantic city is too far for me to play there daily. until I can find a new limit game, 1/2 NL is all there is, aside from online.
