Does anybody know how to say "hello" in Japanese? I did a quick google search, and the first three translators I found came up with nothing.

Daytime: ko ni chi wa
Evening: kon ban wa
On the phone: moshi moshi
All 'a's as in father
All 'o's as in cone
All 'i's as the 'ee' in bee
Run all the syllables together, equally stressed.

I think that is casual and only on the phone. Whatever one uses, it's important to end with, "...Mr. Roboto."

Incognito is 100% correct, I was waiting for someone to say that "Moshi-Moshi" is a phone answering hello type thing and he gets the ribbon!
Incognito's answer below!
Daytime: ko ni chi wa
Evening: kon ban wa
On the phone: moshi moshi
All 'a's as in father
All 'o's as in cone
All 'i's as the 'ee' in bee
Run all the syllables together
PS He must watch A LOT of that Anime stuff boy! : )

Depends on what time of day it is and your rank relative to that of the person to whom you are speaking.

Moshi Moshi is how you answer the phone
Konnichiwa is "Good Day"
Konbanwa is "Good Evening"
O hayo gozaimasu is "How are you" (typical morning greeting)
Hajime mashite is "pleased to meet you" (only used the first time you meet someone)

I've only learned a little japanese a few years ago, but im pretty sure this is not right. Its Anata (you) not Anota, and the 'ka' at the end is a question indicator. I'm too lazy too look all the internal words but that statement would translate "Are you extremely beautiful?"

konnichiwa is hello, for the afternoon. konbanwa is hello, but you say it in the evening instead
konnichiwa is pronounced ko-n-ni-chi-wa, five syllables, the konni part you just pause a little for the "n"s

actually,
a more impolite version of hello in otherwords hi that can be used in any part of the day would be ohayo gozaimasu
