This book will explain it quite well. It is pretty heavy reading (it reads like a textbook in some spots), but it is very interesting. It will explain exactly why they never did 'get with the times'.

I saw a show on PBS a few years' ago. I came upon it in midstream. I saw 3 aborigines following around a cow.

All of a sudden, the 3 aborigines lay a funnel on the ground and they all drop down to their knees. The were inhaling fresh cow pies.

The show was about "huffing." The rest of the stories were about people sniffing glue, paint, etc. These guys were sniffing cow turds.
