There are always plenty of music threads going on. Sometimes the recommendations will be great and I'll be forced to hear an entirely too short preview at Amazon, and then wonder if that's it. Others of us are in bands, have friends who make music, etc., and often say "no where to host but pm me if interested".

So, anyone out there have unused space/bandwidth? I'm not expecting much from this, but perhaps it'll spark discussion on other ways of sharing the media we're always talking about. Things like bittorrent, rapidshare, putfile, and so forth. Thoughts?

(FWIW: I'm not talking about promoting illegal file sharing. I for one have clips of my brother playing guitar that I'd love to be able to share, but I can't direct everyone here to my office webserver.)

I don't get that site, what's in it for the people who run it? I can't see how they get money out of it and it obviously costs money to run. I looked around the site but I didn't see anything about it.

rapidshare specifically lets you pay a smaller fee for guaranteed and faster downloads. I'm guessing its the same with them.
