I use to love camping! So this weekend my GF and I finally go after nearly 5 years.

Awsome time. Only one complaint.

It was [censored] HOT as hell!

As I grow older there is nothing more that I love air conditioning.

I hate waking up in the middle of the night sweating bullets with no way to cool down.

I have searched and searched for a portable AC unit for a tent and have turned up nothing.

I was wondering has anyone seen of such a thing?

There's too many ways for the cool air to escape from a tent for this to be feasible. I think the best you could hope to do is hook up a fan to a generator/battery and at least get some air circulating in the tent.

Alternatively, try this (http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/index.jhtml;jsessionid=OI0C4PVN3AZWOCSGBIWM22QKIYF C5UUC) next time around.

Rofl I saw this comming.

I really like camping but there is nothing more miserable then walking up at 4 am and your sleeping bag and pillow are wet from sweating your ass off.

If you've got a way to plug anything in, then you arent really camping anyway. So I suggest a motorhome or something /images/graemlins/smile.gif

One of those pop up tents you tow behind ure ride would even work, and thats a helluva lot cheaper (I think youcan get a decent one of those for like $6K).

I thought they made tent ac units.

Ofcourse this was a movie but In "Gorillias in the mist". The recon team searching for the silver back had these for there tens.

I was wondering if there was such a thing.

Can't you drive to another location where it's cooler and camp there?

Also, why are you sleeping inside sleeping bags if it's so hot? Go bare.

You should try to acclimate yourself a little, too. Maybe go for regular hikes in the heat so you start getting used to it. So long as you have plenty of water and you're not in the direct sun, you should be OK.

What you really want is some kind of cooling pad - something to sleep on.

Check this out. I was searching and found this. I think I might get one myself.

This is basically an evaporative cooler, swamp cooler. There's a fan that pushes the cool air from the ice out into the room. Swamp coolers work pretty well if you just want a cool breeze on you, which would basically work in small space like a tent.

A tent turns into an oven as soon as the sun hits it. Make all effort to put it in a place that will have morning shade and you won't be so bad off. It can still get pretty hot as the day goes on but you should be up pretty early drinking beer when you are camping anyway.
