based on your poker tracker stats/personal experience what do you prefer to do here? void of a read, an early position player raises and you have AQs... do you reraise to see if he caps, call to play the flop if you hit or fold thinking that your hand is probably an underdog?

3 betting is fun- i three bet almost %100 of the time
you gain info on how good his hand is and it makes the rest of the hand much easier to play

If there are likely cold callers of the raise to come then just cold call. If not, and you want to play it, then go ahead and reraise. It's more expensive but you have position and easier read to play the rest of hand.

definitely reraise! Punish those loose cold callers and don't fear the reraise, you will know where you stand if he does.

Sometimes I like to cold call here because I don't cold call that often and it's kind of fun.

But seriously, raising is probably better, but it won't be by that much.
