I just got a $70 belkin wireless router ($10) after all the rebates. i'm trying to set it up using the belkin software and it keeps faling me in step 3 which is checking connection.

the router is working wirelessly without completing the process as per the Belkin instructions. is this okay? or do i need to finish it?

Return it and get a Aiport card and an Airport Express.

(sorry, I'm a pimp for Mac now.)

i was thinking about getting an ibook some time ago, those Airbus cards are $99 (ouch)!

the iBooks already come with the card. I don't think Mac sells them directly anymore.

The base station runs $129.

To answer your question, go ahead and use it as is, and if it stops working, find some more thorough instructions on the web.

Also make sure you aren't leeching off a neighbor's connection. No joke, I thought I was using wireless ethernet for a couple months before I realized I was using the neighbors', wondering why I always got a crappy connection.
