Caveat: I suck at shorthanded, but I want to get better, so I played 2,5k hands of 5/10, owned, decided they suck too hard and moved up.

Opponent is 38/22/2, i.e overaggro. Got a thin, or maybe not so thin valuebet on this river? And how were my other streets?

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

River: (8.50 BB) 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 8.50 BB

Doubt it, the river check is probably to induce and/or stop flushes from raising.

You played this very much like a flush draw.

I'd check.

Since the flush draw got there, I don't see how many worse hands are calling.

And I play it the same

I'd bet. Overaggro opponents are usually pretty suspicious and he's probably calling with A-high here. And I don't see an overaggro opp checking a nine or an overpair on this river. He probably has 55, 66 or AK-AT which was suspicious of your flop raise on this drawy board and he'll call the river.

I check it, it looks like a 9 scared of one card straight or flush.

Who cares about how many people are in favour of a particular move? Most players suck (and I do too so I'm not just saying this because I'm in the minority here).

I don't see why my reasons for betting are wrong here, I don't think an overaggro opponent is checking a 9 or better on the river here.

- I think that this quote sums it up. I see plays like this with AK AQ or a smaller pair. I've played SO many of these 10-20 short games at party poker. By FAR the correct play is to bet

he could also have something like 86, whatever, a worse 7, etc.

thin value bet, but necessary IMO. I only don't bet if I know my opponent doesn't need top pair to c/r the river
