Caddyshack and Groundhog Day are two of the greatest comedies of all time.

Top 5 comedies:

1. Zoolander
2. Old School
3. Team America
4. Elf
5. Napoleon Dynamite

I went to school last year with Murray's kid (Caleb). Kid was out of control. Bill came to graduation, didn't talk much. I kinda passed up an oppurtunity to golf with him...I will always regret that.

I haven't seen many of the older movies. I've seen Caddyshack and thought it was good, but it pales in comparison to my list. Zoolander is a top 5 movie of all time for me.

groundhog day is one of those flicks that gets better and better the more times you run it into the ground. much like the big lebowski - i wasn't crazy about either of these films the first time or maybe even two.

but after a couple viewings - they're both side-splitting funny.

I'm gonna throw G'hog day on my netflix. Big Lebowski is one of the movies that will never get old for me, but doesn't make me crack up repeatedly like my list. It's still brilliant, just not as funny as my list.

Bull Durham is on, yes!

Joe Reardon: He walked 18.
Larry: New league record!
Joe Reardon: Struck out 18.
Larry: Another new league record! In addition he hit the sportswriter, the public address announcer, the bull mascot twice...
Larry: Also new league records! But, Joe, this guy's got some serious [censored].

"Well, he fucks like he pitches. Sorta... all over the place."

Millie is so goddamned hot. And I have such a thing for Susan Sarandon.

1. Zoolander
2. Old School
3. Team America
4. Elf
5. Napoleon Dynamite

Sure, no, no, no, no.

For great comedies of the last 10 years, try Big Lebowski, South Park: Bigger Longer Uncut.

The other 4 are nowhere near these.

Crash Davis: Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Office Space, Big Lebowski, Super Troopers, Ghostbusters, and Animal House are close seconds.

Ghostbusters is a comedy? Isn't it really more of just a movie with comedic relief? I mean I don't know anybody that was laughing their asses off at this flick.

yah, that list made me remember to mentions a night at the opera and this is spinal tap.

and with that:

"Why dont you just make 10 louder, and make 10 be the top number and make that a little louder?..."

"But these go to 11."

and i'd also like to alter the equation to:

Bill Murray + Pretty much anything except Danny Glover and an Elephant = Awesome

I'd actually put Groundhog's Day in my top five comedies of all time list, and somewhere in my top 50 overall. I've never seen Caddyshack, although I know I need to.

As to the other topic that arose in the thread, I think there's a big difference between movies like the Big Lebowski and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which are really just great movies that are very funny, and something like Zoolander or Billy Madison, which are usually just streams of jokes thrown together for cheap laughs. Smart comedy and silly comedy are so different that they should be in separate genres. I like them both however.

My list of smart comedies:
1. The Big Lebowski
2. Coming to America
3. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
4. Groundhog Day
5. Rush Hour

My list of silly comedies:
1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
2. Young Frankenstein
3. Airplane
4. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
5. Zoolander

(I don't like either of these lists, it would take way more time to do a good job condensing all the comedies I like)
