Villain was LAG. I decided to check the flop, assuming that if he had the straight, he would try to slowplay.

Would you call?

Sounds a lot better, maybe 800. How fast you want to play it is a matter of taste, I think. At low level buy-ins, you have a good chance of action even if you play pretty strong, so that will be my default, obviously adjusted for reads.
