View Full Version : Pulled over

I just got pulled over for going 43 in a 25... the cop asks me for my license and registration and I give it to him, he asks me if Patricia(registered under her name) is my mom, I say yes and he starts walking away. I ask him if he is going to call my house, and he says no. So he gives me a verbal warning, and I get home and my mom is up.

Now, she is never up when I get home, and this was at about 1:30. The TV and lights are on, and when I check the caller ID, there is nothing strange on it. I then call *69 and it has a strange number. I don't think my parents are stealthy enough to delete the number from the caller ID, but they are usually never up this late. Was she testing me to see if I would admit to it?

Do you think he called? Does anyone know if this is standard, do cops usually call after midnight or something?

Before anyone can intelligently comment on this post, and despite the fact that since you are surfing 2+2, we can make our own assumptions, we need to know if you're black or not.

I think you should be ok. If you were under 18, I think he'd be much more likely to call.

Here is what the dialogue should look like when you walk into the kitchen tomorrow morning:

Mom: Oh hi sweetie, are you hungry?
You: Sure mom, but I want to ask you something.
Mom: What is it dear?
You: Tell me what you know or I'll cut you.

That should clear up any confusion.

Sounds good.
Though really, I may just tell them anyway since I didn't get a ticket, and then if they were testing me, pwn them for trying to be sneaks.

Dont you think a cop has better things to do then call your house?

If I was the cop I'd never consider calling your parents until you mentioned it.

In all seriousness, I think you smoked too much weed tonight. You're just being paranoid. And you know what? Who cares if your parents know you were going 43 in a 25. it's not like the found out you worship satan or run an international child pornography ring out of the basement. What teenager doesn't speed? They're probably happy you just got a warning and not a ticket. Do you pay your own insurance? Do you pay for your own car? Seriously. What are they going to do, ground you? YOU'RE NINETEEN YEARS OLD. GROW A SACK FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. Just out of curiosity, are you a virgin? I'll lay 10-1 that you are.

And yeah, he isn't going to call your house.

No to growing a sack? You didn't answer my question about why you're so worried if they found out you were going 43 in a 25. If they're going to be SOOOO pissed then maybe you should move out of the house. If I had a kid I'd be more pissed he was posting on a message board full of degenerate gamblers than if I found out he was going 43 in a 25.

Now I'm confused. I'm past being mean, but what do you mean? What will they stop paying for? Don't you have a job? If you're 19 and still living 100% on your parents then you have bigger problems than a warning for speeding. And if your parents are goign to stop paying for your food or charging you rent because you got a warning then it's time to move out anyways.

Oh good, a thread to hijack!

I was in Tunica with some friends over Memorial Day weekend. Heading back to Nashville, we had just crossed over the state line, but hadn't really gotten on 240E yet, so we were still in that pretty ghetto part of west Memphis. I'm driving my friend's car, and as we pass a gas station, I see a cop pulling out over the corner of my eye. I don't really react, because I've been keeping it to about 10 over. In fact, I don't really pull over immediately after he turns his lights on some way behind me. I just start to get over and out of the way so he can get wherever he's going.

Of course, I was getting pulled over. He comes up and asks if I know why, I respond with a no, and he says, "You were doing almost 60 in a 45." I just sit there and stare at him, thinking to myself, What, he pulled me over for doing 12 over the limit or something? After a second when I don't respond, he asks where we are headed, whose car it is, and takes my license back to his car.

He returns a minute or two later, ticket in hand. He says, "I wrote you up for 55 in a 45. Is that ok?" Is that ok?? I'm now totally nonplussed, and ask, "Ummm, 10 over?" and shoot him a look of absolute incredulity. He just says yes. I ask him how much it will be, and he says he doesn't really know, that I'd have to call, and then asks, "What, are you guys college kids [note: we are not, but we're not over 30, so I can't blame him for that]? You want me to knock that down a bit for you?"

At this point I'm confused as hell. I tell him that I'd really rather not have the ticket at all, and he just kind of says, "Yeah, well, you want me to knock it down some?" Seeing that there's no way I can avoid the ticket altogether, I figure this is the only option and say sure. He hands me the ticket, I sign, and when he hands me my copy back, its for 50 in a 45.

This is absolutely the most bullshit ticket ever. There's no way he clocked me at all, and I think it might be as bad as him filling up his tank and then just grabbing the first car to go by. He didn't even bother asking for insurance - although maybe that's because I wasn't driving my car? - and its pretty obvious he was just filling a quota at the end of the month. Complete bullshit. My friends said they even thought he looked guilty or sheepish for giving me the ticket, but I was too dumbfounded to notice.
