I have to say that Heart and Soul by Huey Lewis and the News is easily the worst song ever.

Any song on the Grease soundtrack.

At first, I thought the System of a Down song that's getting radio play right now was horrible, but I have seen the error of my ways. All it took was LALALALALA.
So random. Pure brilliance.

Why do we always send the poor?

A room mate had this aweful disk that was exclusively bagpipes. Pick a song off that CD. It is the worst.

That's a big negatory, there Ghost Rider. The songs suck because they are played to death, embalmed, buried, had a nice service said over them, then resurrected just to be played to death again.

Seriously. They've been forever ruined. I hate these songs because of overplay.

That's a decent reason, I guess.
I may have misspoke earlier. The fact is I haven't seen Grease, and I've only heard two of the songs. So for me they aren't overplayed.

"This one's for the girls" by some country singer.

There's a reason I'm picking this ... ESPN used this with its women's basketball NCAA Tournament coverage. I can't stand women's basketball anyway and this song was awful. My co-workers (fellow sports writers), knowing my hatred for it (and the tournament itself), downloaded the f'ing song onto all of their computers and kept playing it. The f'ing bastards.

"Can't get you out of my head" by Kylie Minogue is way way way way way up there. And anything by Ricky Martin. Oh, and Ruben's "Sorry 2004" ... once hearing that was more than too much.

I'm convinced the music of this generation is the worst ever. I'm not saying there isn't good stuff, but most of it is awful. And yes, I own a sizable portion of awfulness.

Wow, I just spent 10 minutes on this. Yikes.

'specially when I'm in a park

It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news

While not a specific song, two artists get the bile pumping at an alarming rate. One has been already mentioned--The Eagles--but the other, a Mr. James Buffet was despised already by me, but when I was working in a record store about 10 years ago and assigned the CD section which contained every CD by that Boat Drink fool, my hatred reached a level I had not yet known existed. Having to stare at his goofy grin for hours at a time every day only steeled the rage.

LetYouDown
06-06-2005, 04:43 PM
I'm not understand all of the sheer Eagles hatred that's out there. I can understand it not being someone's favorite genre, but specifically hating them I can't figure out.

Don Henley and Glenn Frey are, in my mind and the minds of many others, the single best songwriting team of all time. Don Felder and Joe Walsh are both very very good guitarists, with an edge going to Felder in my opinion. I can see someone thinking the genre sucks, and I don't have any issue with that. Hell, I hate pop music as much as the next guy, even though I respect that some people like it. To put Hotel California on a list of worst songs ever (I realize that's not what this thread is), is absurd in my opinion.
