I've been thinking about this
let's take pokerstars 0.50/1 NL as an example

let's say you have AQo in mid or late position, and some random guy you never played before raises you 4xBB
you both have 100xBB
is it +EV calling here? or a reraise is better?
if you get immediate odds, it`s -EV. since you will only flop a pair about 1/3 the time, and you can even flop a Q with a K on board

I've been thinking if I have been losing money by only calling in these situations

what do you think of the same situation but with hands like AK, AJs....?

I fold AQ to raises but hey thats me.

I think reraising is better than calling but its player dependent.

(And since we don't know anything about the player in your example, I fold.)

so you don`t play AQ on EP?
what about calling with AK? is a reraise better?

This also depends on the villain's hand range (and somewhat on his post flop play). Generally it goes something like this: If hand range is something like AA-TT/AKo-A10s, I call and pray for an ace and a flush draw to fall. If it's more like AA-JJ/AK, a fold is in order obviously. And if the hand range is much wider than both of the above, a raise is my standard.

reraise to at least 12BBs w/ AKo or s00ted. AQo is a fold here. AQs is a call and there could be arguments for a reraise.
