$10+1
Blinds are 100/200

UTG(T1900)
UTG+1 (T1600)
Button (T1300)
Hero (T2900)
BB (T5800)

BB is fairly LAG, will call a raise in the BB w/ Any Ace, 2 broadway, any pair or so

Hero is dealt A/images/graemlins/club.gif3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Pre-flop:
Fold, Fold, Fold, Hero raises to 600, BB Calls

Flop(T1200) is A/images/graemlins/heart.gif10/images/graemlins/club.gif4/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Hero is All In (2300)

Should I not be making this raise in the first place? Should I not lead off AI on the flop? What are my best lines both pre-flop & on the flop.

Firstly, remember this is just a steal attempt for the blinds, A3o isn't really a great hand to see a flop with. I'd lead with 500 not 600 but that's kind of splitting hairs preflop. On the flop I would seriously check, then depending on his line, decide what to do from there. When you go for steals like this you should have a clear idea what you will do on the flop, before you get there.

So I should not make the raise based on my pre-flop read?

He turned over, A5 & and a 2 came on the river to avoid the split pot.

So I should just be slowing down if I get called by any player in this situation?

Any time you make a steal and get called you need to be aware that you were busted and bet accordingly. The reaction shouldn't be pushing unless you get lucky on the flop and TPCK ain't lucky.

I don't mind trying to steal preflop, but given the read you have on this player it seems likely he has an ace. I agree that checking the flop and seeing what he does is probably the best option.
