Greetings. Considering a move to Vegas. Trying to find a lease in the $500- $1000/mo range (studio or 1-br). Priorities are 1) safety, 2) price, 3) proximity or ease-of-travel to the casinos.

Can anyone advise? Thank you. -d

OK, maybe I wasn't very clear. I am just looking for general information about neighborhoods. I'm 25, single male, from rural Illinois. I have heard that some areas of Vegas are not safe. Just hoping to avoid them as much as possible.

Central Vegas?
East Vegas?
Southeast Vegas?
Henderson?

Can anyone tell me about the level of safety in these neighborhoods? Can you stroll about in the wee hours of the morning without fear for your life?

thanks for any advice.

I think you're assuming that there are a lot more people who live in vegas on these boards than there really are. I think its mostly online players/college students here.

Summerlin, The Lakes, Desert Shores are all nice. Anything that's been built in the past 5 years should be good. Henderson is nice but I'm pretty loyal to the West side. As far as casinos go you're never really more than 30 minutes from the strip, and there are locals casinos even closer. Hope this helps a bit.

Yeah I'm actually in Normal right now. T minus a couple weeks, if I can find a place in Vegas.

I apologize for using the wrong forum. I guess I did overestimate how many nevada residents are posting here.

THanks anYways -d

btw, any info on the area just north of UNLV, south of LV country club? I sort of like the idea of being close to a university. ty

If you're looking to rent, you might try to call some rental agengies/property managers. Describe your criteria and see what they say - notice I didn't say believe what they say. Trust, but verify.

I am not too sure on how this area is now since i havent lived in vegas since 98. but this area at the time i lived there was not the best. Henderson isnt bad and u have a couple of casino's nearby. Also, summerlin is a good area although that can get a little pricy there. I would definitely avoid north vegas, heavy drug and gang activity there. Hope this helps.
