Where's the "both are delicious" option?

You have to pick. Pretend it's a life or death scenario.

I don't think it would fall under either, but for the purposes of this poll, it's sushi.

No, nigiri is a california roll

sushi is a fatty tuna roll (i.e. a bed of rice w/ a piece of sashimi on top)

i could be wrong, i've had a lot of kirin tonight

You are mixed up. Nigiri is just fish over rice with a tiny bit of seaweed to hold them together.

A california roll is a type of Maki.

I guess both are considered sushi, but sashimi can also be considered a type of sushi by similar logic (raw fish...)

I like sushi rolls, but am not a big fan of sushi itself where the fish is just placed over the rice.

I'm a huge sashimi fan. The natural sweetness and flavor of the fish in raw form is one of the best foods in nature.

Uh...kind of.

Sashimi is raw fish. No rice. No seaweed.

Sushi (Nigiri) is raw fish over rice. Wasabe (not seaweed) is often used to keep the two together.

Sushi (Maki) is raw fish and rice wrapped up in seaweed. Maki is often referred to as a "roll" and is usually what people think of when they hear "sushi."

Inside-out Maki is maki but rolled the other way so the rice appears on the outside. It's often coated with a thin layer of sesame seeds and/or smelt roe (little orange fish eggs that look like orange poppy seeds).

A california roll is a type of maki that is usually comprised of at least cucumber and fake crab (pollock) wrapped in seaweed.

Negitoro (or simply toro) is fatty tuna and comes from the belly of the fish. Negitoro can be served as nigiri, maki, or sashimi.

Tekka means tuna. Tekka Maki means tuna roll.

And salmon avocado maki is the best thing ever.

Depends on my mood, but I usually like a combination of the two.

When going for all-you-can-eat, I always go for the sashimi. Sushi is less worth it because of all the filler (rice) you get.

Yes, I'm a cheap bastard...

I qualify as one of the ignorant types that loves California rolls but has not yet tried Sashmi or any other kind of raw seafood delicacy.

There are plenty kinds of sushi that aren't about raw fish. I love sushi and sashimi, but still some of my favorite sushi types are the kind with daikon(pickled yellow radish) inside and the kind with cucumber inside. They aren't just Americanized sushi or anything, but are eaten with gusto by the Japanese too.

I've even had sushi with cooked fish inside, though that seems kinda strange to me.

I don't really care much for either one. I went to a sushi place for lunch yesterday and had katsu donbuki. It was very good.
