I'll admit it right now I was a fan of MJ prefreak of nature days and still like his original stuff. Best/your favorite song of his. IMO picking none is slightly lame but do whatever.

When I heard Beat It for the first time, I was just simply in awe.

funny story. i was trying to get into a killers concert a year ago at the troubbador in LA. i was out front begging people for tickets. she asked me for tickets and i just told her "no, i'm looking for tickets too." she got very pissed and i couldn't figure out why. i walked over to my GF (yes, the same one i posted about) and she said "do you know who just aked you for tickets???" i had no clue and she told me it was mischa. apparently she was pissed at me cause i didn't recognize her.

You missed a lot of the good ones.

The best song is "P.Y.T."

You should have also listed "Rock With You" and "Wanna Be Startin' Something."

What I like even more is pre solo days. My favorite is ABC 123.

Yah I know was just going with what I could come up with on the fly. He's got a lot of good ones that is for sure. I remember when I was a kid I was a pussy and had to be a fan of his in secret as for some he was not "cool" [censored] those people now though they are all fat and unhappy.

Michael Jackson blows. Period.

His stuff is so dated and so unoriginal, it's ridiculous. Does anyone really still listen to his music??

I mean, Thriller was huge, yes. And some of the songs aren't half bad. But really, are they any better than any other 80's music back then? Better than Huey Lewis or Loverboy?

No, they're not. And to compare him to true artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, etc., is ludicrous.

Off the Wall was pretty good, I'll give you that.

But this guy has been doing the same dance moves for 30 years, writing the same horrible, sappy ballads, and singing in that same wimpy, hiccupy voice for so long, it's ridiculous.

This guy has got to be the MOST OVERRRATED artist in popular music history.

There, I said it. And I mean it.

Obviously his new music is crap, but for a while there he was consistently making hit songs that are still classics today. It's hard to come up with a single artist who has so many songs that can have a bunch of people dancing. I know of clubs that some nights just play MJ and Prince because there are enough pop classics between the two of them to keep a party going.

Agreed.

I could give him some credit for comedy value.
eg. the one about his pet rat & the many of his videos where he is singing about his love of childen.
But i suspect his humour is unintentional.
More importantly, his music is garbage.

A glaring omission.

"I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5 is my favorite. Not sure if that counts here though...

Some clown (he's the cook, actually) always puts an MJ song on the jukebox in the bar I hang out in. The only one that is remotely tolerable is "Smooth Criminal".
