Villain is 60/5 - hasn't shown down much of anything strong.

Hero...?

Well I hit a card I wanted, but not the card I wanted.. dare I bet for value, or check and keep the pot small/induce a bluff/call a small bet?

Comments appreciated.

I think I like a check/call line here..I'm not sure I call a very large bet though... Betting out gives him the chance to raise you off your hand.. I might be wrong though. anyone else?

That was my thought.

And the results...

yeah I don't see you getting a call from anything you beat.

the turn call againts a VPIP 60 isn't terrible.

The turn call is actually better than the flop call.
Your pot odds are better and you now have four more outs (assuming villain isn't on flush draw).

The river check is okay. Sometimes I might bet something ridiculous like 1.5-2$ just for value, since villain is so loose.

Keep in mind Hero bet the flop, rather than call. Which, given the board, is the right play about 90% of the time, I'd say.

Sorry I thought he called a bet on the flop. My bad /images/graemlins/blush.gif

I would bet the turn and river. Big on the turn, little on the river.

I like the bet on the flop and check on the river. Questionable call on the turn, but over all play fine. I think you check call almost any bet on the river because the K could not really hit any draw your opponet was betting.

Thanks for the comments, all.

I'm not a huge fan at calling ANY bet, as KQ, KT, and a set are perfectly reasonable holdings. Anything above $5 and I'm gonna have to do some pretty good convincing of myself to call. CHecking will keep the pot somewhat small, and sometimes induce a bluff from a worse hand - as long as he's not one that'll bluff huge.

I like this idea. Unless I think he's one that'll reraise huge on a small bet, this is probably worth it most of the time.

"Reasonable holdings?!"

Then I went back and checked Villain's preflop numbers.

Yeah, those are quite possible. So are those eights. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif
