I wanna get a great wireless/optical mouse. Maybe somethin my logitech? I'll also get a cool keyboard if there's some kind of deal, or if it looks really cool. Maybe an ergonomic one?

What do you guys think? Have a model for me?

I have an optical mouse and an ergonomic keyboard. Neither are cordless. The optical mice are very nice. The cord doesn't get in the way of anything and I can't see a use for spending extra money on a mouse without one. Iptical corded mouse gets a thumbs up from me.

Do you own that? Is it precise enough for multitabling 4 tables on a 2001fp? Does it function as a conventional mouse (on the desk) as well?

YEs on both counts.

Yes. Yes. Yes. The best part about it is that once you get good with it you can just sit back in your chair and relax and use it like a laser pointer. So much better than a regular mouse.

If I wanna move it from say right to left--do I have to rotate my wrist, or can I move my whole arm (like a pointer) to move the cursor. If it depends on wrist movements, I can see me getting sore from that.

Masturbating jokes welcome!

MX1000 is awesome. I have one and like it very much. It's pretty much one of the highest end mouses out there and I think it's what you're looking for.

Now I'm basically debating between Logitech's desltop (wireless keyboard and MX1000) and that one by gyration which includes their whatever wireless keyboard and that sicki gyroscopic mouse that you can hold in your hand... Logitech is like 120, gyration is 100 so price is not really a factor. I may go and try both out at a Best Buy...

a trip report would be much appreciated if its not too much trouble

...i'm also in the market for a wireless keyboard/mouse setup.

If I go, I'll def. report back. The Logitech one is the best rated on CNET and seems aweosme. I don't think anyone would be going wrong with that. The other one has gotten praise here, but not quite the same glowing love on CNET, but it seems so [censored] cool, I'm already leaning that way. If I try out the crazy one one and like it, I'm buying it.

I'll report back....

haha - i was just checking out CNET myself as well

... i agree with you re: the 'wow' factor of the gyration-- but, possibly similar to you, would hesitate to get it before i actually had it in my hands at least once ... logitech seems more highly reccomended, but gyration definitely looks pimp tho ... so yeah if you do get a chance to try it out- HOLLABACK

Yes, go try it out. I really hope that wherever you go has a sample so you can see how cool it is. I was amazed the first time I used one.

I would opt for Logitec diNovo because it looks awesome and MX900 kicks MX1000's ass any day.

Actually MX1000 is the technically superior of the both but I prefer the shape of MX900 any day.

Also, $250 shouldn't be a big issue if you're good at poker.

i had the gyration one, and have basically stopped using it since i got an mz510. i don't really remember why though, i used to think it was about the coolest thing ever.

i've used quite a few mice, but this one is my favorite. you don't have to twist your forearm. it's very comfortable:

I don't like/need that detachable "media pad." If I go Logitech I will try both the MX900 and MX1000, and probably end up getting their standard wireless keyboard. Should only cost 120ish that way.

What is an mz510? Froogle didn't give me nything useful. Is it better than the gyration one? Link?

my spelling sucks. mx510, i assume a cheaper version of the logitec's you're looking at.

boom, im not sure if you made the purchase yet but the gyration is NOT the way to go. Its functional purpose is mostly for office conference rooms and people who have media pc's hooked up to their living room plasma or other tv type.

If multitable from your couch then its great but if your at your desk get yourself a logitech cordless combo set.

I use the Logitech MX 1000 - Mouse - laser - wireless - PS/2, USB @ work and home...

IMHO, the best offer is the the logitech wireless or a combo with keyboard.....

I've used the expert mouse in various incarnations since the mid 90's, and I've always loved them for their comfort and control but recently I've started experiencing minor wrist pain when I play alot of poker. I four-table, usually in three to five hour sessions and I absolutely have to take a day or two off every week just to let my wrist rest.

I find myself placing the trackball in many different positions (desk, arm of chair, right leg, left leg) just to give my wrist some variety which is why I'm very interested in the gyration. If it works and provides good control I'd love to give it a try.

We have a gyration at work that other people use for presentations, and I've tested it out a bit just moving it around the screen but I'm not convinced I could control it well enough to hit buttons and pre-action checkboxes reliably. Of course, I haven't fine tuned the settings on the one at work either.
