View Full Version : Going gray

I'm Asian, so my hair is naturally jet black. Consequently, gray hair sticks out like nobody's business. I got my first gray hair 15 months ago; I was 28. I got my third one today. I don't like this. When did people start going gray?

roughly at the age of 14, though its getting to be a bit more serious lately.

I started going gray at about 23 and it has really gotten bad the past few years to the point where i would say i am 1/3 grey but there was a major upside to it.

MANY women find salt and pepper hair attractive. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I have hooked up with at leat 4 women in their early 20's that I never would've had a shot with when I was in my 20's myself and a large part of what they said initiially attracted them to me was my hair.

I absolutely refuse to dye my hair. I wouild rather be 35 with salt and peper hair than look like someone with those unnaturally dark hair colors you see on men trying to look younger.

I wish I could go gray today. When I was 20 I went to a salon and asked if they'd dye my hair gray and the lady looked at me like I was a moron, so there went that idea. I think gray hair is rad.

I'm almost 25 and have noticed a frustratingly more frequent amount over the last 6 months. For the last two years I've been in a stressul job and keep telling myself that this had something to do with it. Does this have any basis in reality? (yes i could google but i'd rather here from personal experience)

Similar boat, but I'm older. If you can see three, you've got more. I first noticed more than the stray single in my late 20s. 37 now, and about 15% gray.

When I was in high school and fascinated with Aldous Huxley's "The Doors of Perception" I deprived myself of sleep for days on end, I think during that time I got five or so grey hairs.

Since that time i've made a conscious effort to not be so weird and no more have apppeared.

They think you're old enough to have accumulated some wealth and still young enough to be a suitable mate. They might not even be conscious of it but therein lies the attraction. Get a nicer car and you will score with the 20 somethings more often.

My fiance, who's a quarter Chinese, got her first gray hair in high school. As for me I don't have gray hair but do have a serious receding hair line at the ripe age of 25. Our children will most likely be gray and bald in their early teens.

edited to add: I actually like the black hair with strands of gray sticking out. The contrast is nice. Not sure it would suit you, but I know several Chinese girls with strands of gray hair and it works for them.

its called growing old. one day about 40 you wont see well enough to read without glasses. presbiopia. then your back or neck will ache some days. your bones will feel different. little things will hurt more. and worst of all you will lost some of your taste for foods and not want to eat as much. you wont think as quickly and miss things you never did before. your driving will get worse, not the other fellows, you will fold you hand in the big blind when its not raised once in awhile. all while your net worth is compounding upward and time to live is depleting.

Cheery post! At 47, I haven't yet hit but could use the "not want to eat as much" part, and still have all my hair (just starting to thin, perhaps, but slightly) with only a scant handful of exceptions all the original color. Eyes are still the original factory models as well, with no aftermarket assistance.
