My absolute favorite would be the Utah Jazz. On one hand I think they should have renamed themselves when moving from New Orleans, but on the other hand the Utah Polygamists just doesn't have a good ring to it.

Excellent choice. Does anybody (besides me, of course) know what the parts of the logo stand for? No, it's not "elb."

My wife's high school teams were the Midgets. If you remember the ESPN commercials from a year or two ago, they were in the same conference as the Nimrods. There was one more ridiculous mascot in the area, but I don't remember what it was now.

and if we're including colleges, I think you have to go with the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs.

i always liked this. i remember when i was like 7, i made some baseball cards on the commodore 64 in some GEOS art program - to be printed on the dot matrix printer, for our 'wiffle ball league'. each person represented a team, my brother was always the brewers. i thought the cards i made for him were the coolest. nothing was ever done with these cards i just basically designed them for nothing. hmmm. good story huh? thanks.

the best team name is the New Jersey Devils. If you are familiar at all with the legend of the jersey devil, you must agree.
