View Full Version : Is seat positioning important enough to give up a round of free hands?

Say you just played out your hand on the button and the player to your left is terrible. He is playing every other hand in a 10 handed game. Now the player to his immediate left gets up. Is it worth giving up 7 free hands to get on his left? I think it is.

I think it is for two reasons
1: you receive great position
2: although small, you get to learn a bare amount of 7 hands about the rest of the table

Well, in the given example I don't think this would be valid; you must have already been watching the game while waiting for your seat to open or you wouldn't know how valuable the seat that just opened is. I'd switch seats.

Why can't you just wait a hand and get back in in the CO for free?

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Plus, the new player may take a while to get there, so you still can get some hands in your old seat.

Where the heck are you playing or is this online?

In Vegas and most of the East Coast, you can move left past 2 live players for free.

He is right, and it is worth it to move seats. You can isolate all you want then.

Getting the best seat at the table is way more valuable than a few extra hands in a worse seat at the same table.
