Live MTT, 144 entered, in the third level of the rebuy period, 50/75 blinds. UTG has about T$3800 and is fairly tight (played several hours on the cash table with this guy). I am the BB with T$4500. Table has been playing fairly tight all things considered.

PF: UTG limps, three other limps to the SB who completes, I have KK and raise to 175. UTG calls all fold.

Flop: K38r, I lead out with 450, UTG thinks and calls.

Turn: A...

Whats your turn play?

I think he has 88 here for some reason. I check raise.

And if he has AK a checkraise would work perfectly...

I like to keep betting. Someone else thinks he has 88, I think he's put you on trying to steal all those limps.

Maybe the check-raise is the best play, but I'll like to get in a situation where he rasies trying to steal the pot then you can 3 bet it.

OK... Here is how I played the turn...

Turn: A, I lead out 1500, UTG quickly calls.

River: T,

Now whats you play?

i would probably go for 2000, but in that case you might as well just put him all in.

Not the river you want to see, but you said he's a solid player, so I'd have a hard time putting on on QJ. I think a 1/2 pot bet on the river is good. If he has any kind of hand, he has to call, and it is sounding more like he has 88, or was maybe trying to trap w/AA. Maybe I'm seeing monsters, but I'm scared all the sudden. I think a 1/2 pot bet will get him to just call w/AA. If he has QJ then that's just one of those you have to live with.

Wouldn't a bet - then he raises - work even better?

Yep that was a scarey river to say the least.

I had a hard time putting him on QJ, the only time I seen him play QJ was in late position, limped.

88 is a strong possible, but frankly he is pretty aggressive with a made hand and would have expected an AI on the turn if he had 88.

I replayed the hand and compared it to his known play from the cash games. The only hand I could fairly certain put him on was AK...

River play: I lead out 300, he looks very confused and is AI after being promted for "time" by the dealer, I call MHIG, he tabled AQs.

Thinking back on the hand I think I miss played it on the turn for sure. I think a check RR-AI would have been a better play. I could not put him on AA as I am pretty sure he would have RR me from UTG if he did; 88 would have been a big bet on the turn and so would have AK and likely AQ in this case.
