Why do people do this? It drives me up a wall and seems to be unique to UB (I've seen it on Party, but rarely). I've ranted about this before but I still just don't get it. When they have a monster, I raise, they push, and I fold. When they have garbage, I raise and they fold. They throw away a BB for nothing. I honestly don't get it; they must have some reason for doing it but I cannot fathom it. Its tough to beat a guy when you have no idea what he's thinking...

Another donktastic example of CALLING an all-in as a bluff.

UTG ($29.5)

<font color="#C00000">SB ($32.3)</font>

Preflop: Hero is Button with 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, SB completes, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $0.5</font>, SB calls $0.25.

Flop: ($1) 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, BB checks.

<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $6</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $23.5 (All-In)</font>, SB calls $17.50.

Results in white below:
BB has As Kd (two pair, aces and kings).
SB has 8h 2c (high card, ace).

Nice! Maybe some lurker was reading ZeeJustin's "Taking marginal -EV spots to set up a profitable image" post on mid-high and didn't get to the end of the thread /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I do this if I'm on a table with players who have low post flop aggression scores and my hand needs to improve. I'm trying to find out where I stand. They usually just call, in which case I get to see the turn for just one BB.

If someone raises I know I'm behind and it potentially saves me money later on. And I feel that sometimes it prevents the steal attempt by the last player to act.
