I understand of course that paying the extra rake at the bad beat jackpot makes it on its surface -EV. However, I have also heard that the play at the bad beat jackpot tables is significantly worse because it attracts the real gambloors. Do you think that this outweigh's the -EV extra rake? Has anyone done any EV equations on the matter?

I use PokerEdge and I know the BBJ tables have a lot more fish on them than the non BBJ tables. Sadly, my rakeback isn't on Party, so I end up playing the non-BBJ tables for the most part now.

So, yea, the BBJ tables are soft. I know I'd be playing them if rakeback isn't a concern. The extra $10 I might pay in rake over the course of a night is more than made up for by a couple extra value bets I get.

All subjective though, I can't really back it up with numbers at this point.
