Fold pre-flop.

I wanted to see if I could spike a set thinking that I had the chips to play with so I could fold if I didn't without hurtiny my stack to greatly and really increase my lead if I hit the set.

I played the flop as I did when I sensed a continuation bet with a favorable flop to me if he didn't have a Jack or an overpair.

Again, fold preflop. No reason to see a flop for a tenth of your stack out of position.

I agree it was risky, although I had position on villain.

I just had it in my mind villain had Slick or AQ and that I could outplay him after the flop if he missed. He did and I did.

Had he made a larger lead-in bet or reraised or even called me, I was done, but I didn't suspect that villain would do those things bassed on what I had seen thus far. I would have haemorrhaged some chips but I had those and I felt I could outplay this table even taking a hit.

This was a read-based play. If you have a read on villain and enough chips to muscle a little, do you try this kind of thing ever? Not even sometimes?

This is only fine if the opponet has a 3K stack also. And even then I'd fold.

Calling a raise of an 1/7th of oppositions stack is not good. Also, what would you have done if he bets out T400 like a lot of people with AK do here.

I agree with the others pf, but have to say I like your reraise on the flop.

[/ QUOTE ]I would have folded to a pot-sized bet had I not hit my set and still had a ton of chips and reasonable blinds. I didn't anticipate villain making a pot-sized bet unless he made his hand, however.
