What else could 72 possibly be referring to?

Does anyone know if they are going to reopen, at their previous spot or somewhere else?

Yeah, please post all details here. Also call 911 and let them know, just to be safe.

come on, you know nypc did not get shut down because of people talking about it on this website, they got shut down because of all the craigslist stuff, etc. they dug this hole for themselves, I talked with the people who ran the room and they embraced the publicity.

If they do start a new room the NYPD will know about it, talking about it on here is not going to get them busted.

I agree it was at the very least a combination of things that led to the closings. I still don't think continuing to talk about these places openly is going to help matters.

A lot more people read The New York Post, than Craigs list.

Hmm, so is it 2 or 3 wrongs that make a right?

Craigs list and an email newsletter were not the problem. I think most of us expected it to take an incident (ie: Robbery, fight) to bring the heat down. However, the new york post and all the other media coverage obviously made someone in power feel that they had to do something.

I happen to think that it was a combination of the clubs openly operating as much as mainstream press coverage and the heart attack incident that precipitated the raids. Advertising on craigslist in particular was not as much of a factor as advertising at all.

However...

Not online, anyway (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&range=3m&size=medium&compare_site s=nypost.com&y=p&url=http://newyork.craigslist.com#top). Note that this lists daily page views for all of craigslist.org, but the stats at the bottom of the page show that newyork.craigslist.org makes up about 17% of the traffic for that domain.
