I admit looking at it now I might have had an itchy trigger finger, but here goes... he could be raising with many hands ie any overpair with the flush draw. I think the only hands I am behind are pockets 9's and AKs. I figured he had TT-KK and was testing me.

Easy 3-bet in that game. He will do it with any overpair/flush draw. When he caps I would play it just like you did. If he missed his flush he will bluff bet for sure and you get an extra bet out of it.
