QUICK QUESTION

I'm gonna take my dog on a walk, but whenever i get her ready, she goes crazy. Starts barking and spazzes because she is so excited. Then when we're walking, she is always so anxious, getting ahead of me and running to every stranger.

How could I go about calming my dog down before and during the walk?

Is she trained?

I mean, do you regularly work with her to develop good behavior/ stimulate her brain or did you only go as far as training her not to sh*t inside?

Hmmm... You might look into obedience school.

For starters, whenever you allow her to get ahead and you continue the walk, you're reinforcing that it's okay. Stop and wait for her to calm down. It's going to take a lot of patience on your part.

This seemed to have worked today (after the first 20 minutes). I guess I'll have to see if the results are sustainable in the long run.

Just let the dog spaz out. She's obviously having fun.

They make collars that squeeze the dogs legs when they start pulling (not painful, just uncomfortable), which i heard work well. Also before you open the door make her sit until she is calm. I myself have a shock collar because i have a thick headed pit-bull (whoever says these things are inhumane, i've put this thing on my neck and zapped myself at the highest setting, it doesn't hurt, it's just uncomfortable and surprsing even when you know it's coming)
