Seat 8 is a total manic. He'll bet the river with a pair of fives after having it capped 3rd, 4th, and 3betted 6th. He'll also cap two pair 2255 against someone who just doubl bet and 3bet with a big open pair on fourth.

Seat 3 is like seat 8 but less extreme. Those two have been going to war builing 30BB hands every round and showing down absolute crap.

This is the first time I've seen 5th since I sat down, so I've already lost about 25BBs in antes and bring ins.

I'm clearly no expert, but I don't see what else you could have done. Your hand just kept improving enough each street to make calling correct (esp with how large that pot got). Good fold on the river. The only place I could see folding is 5th, but the pot is too large.

I wasnt sure if I played it right. a couple alternatives would have been:
check raising 4th
raising 5th and checking 6th unless I make queens up

I think that in order to check-raise fourth, you want the bet to come from your right so you can knock people out. It seems much more likely to me that a bet will come from your left.

Raising fifth would be reasonable, given the size of the pot. I would have some trepidation about even calling, but with 12 BB out there, it's probably worth investing one more bet, even though you may be behind. The whole raising-with-the-second-best-hand thing doesn't always occur to me, because most of my experience is in games where people refuse to be knocked out. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
