So me and Daryn are driving to Las Vegas from MA, Daryn wants to just take 3 or 4 days, I am thinking 5 or 6, it's a lot of driivng. Plus I want to do stuff on the way. One stop I want to make is to finally see a factory farm. Would be cool to meet Schenids in Minnesota too though that is kind of off track. Yellowstone I want to see but that again is off track. So what are some good ideas for us to go to places?

I don't know about MN and schenids. He is telling me it will take 6 hours off extra driving, looks more like 15 to me.

Why guess? Mapquest and other sites will give you the exact difference in travel time.

BTW, I loved Memphis. Nice place to see for a night. Plus, you could play in Tunica overnight.

Here you go (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1 &1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=Boston&1s=MA&1z=&2ahXX=&2y=US &2a=&2c=Las+Vegas&2s=CA&2z=) You should definitely stop in Blackhawk, CO for some 2-5 spread limit. It's good times.

I moved to vegas from boston about 7 months ago...there are two routes (nothern and southern) you can take. I took the southern route, which is basically 95 south to rte. 40 west. We took about 5 days to get out here, driving 10 hours a day. I recommend taking your time and seeing the sites because you dont drive across country often. The southern route takes you through NY, PA VA, TN, AR,OK,TX,NM,AZ and NV.1st night, we stopped in rural VA ( virginia military academy, which sucked) 2nd night, we stopped in memphis which rocked( check out beale st, and its about 1/2 hour from tunica,ms which has riverboat casinos) 3rd night we stopped in Amarillo,TX which was kinda lame. 4th night we stopped in flagstaff, AZ which is near the grand canyon, also, there is a college there with a bunch of dumb broads. From flagstaff its about 2.5 - 3 hrs to vegas. You go by the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead this way. We went the southern route because the cities we went through were a little more appealing. IF we went the northern route, we would have had to stay in ohio, middle of nowhere, iowa, middle of nowhere, and utah, middle of nowhere. Depending on how long you are willing to take, the northern route could be cool, i guess. We were on a time constraint. Definitely take pics and post them. Good Luck... P.S. Vegas is well worth the trip.

get a 5-weight fly rod, 5-wt floating line (6-weight if you must), tapered leaders and a bunch of #18 caddis, a humpy or two, a couple prince nymphs, etc. drive straight to yellowstone. see yellowstone. don't pet the bears. go a couple miles south of Mack's Inn and get the scones with honey butter at the little diner. drive north to the Madison River. float it. repeat. repeat. repeat. the sourdough pancakes at the Ennis Cafe in Ennis are pretty good too.

if you stay long enough you will catch the salmonfly hatch on the Madison. better fishing there is not.

oh and the Virginia City Players in Virginia City, Montana are fun. there's a candy shop across the street that's worth a look. they used to hold the rattlesnake roundup there too.

back to your trip: go to yellowstone. if you go the southern route there are anastasi villages to see (new mexico and surroundings), the caverns at the arizona border, the arizona meteor crater, the grand canyon and the hoover dam (pretty good tour). don't miss Cirque du Soleil's Mystere in Vegas.

If you want to see Yellowstone it means taking I90 for a ways, in which case you should play some 2-10 spread in Deadwood, SD. The advantage to this would be that you get to avoid driving through Nebraska on I80. ugh. Deadwood is a place every poker player should visit at least once, go and play at Saloon 10, sawdust on the floors, live band, just all sorts of fun.

i kind of don't like fishing because when i was young and tried it i got a fishing hook stuck in my hair. also i got spoiled fishing in a clear lake where people swim, i could see all the fishes and there were a lot of them. now that i can't see my fishies when i fish it is not so fun. (danny)

I have done this drive and the most memorable place I went was Telluride, CO. It's incredibly beautiful, or was in 1996.

My other observation is that Kansas has zero redeeming qualities, unless you count needing to pull your car over and lie in a ditch to avoid a tornado as a "redeeming quality".

I unfortunately had to travel through South Dakota once, and most of the state looks identical to Nebraska and Kansas. Except for all those Wall Drug signs. You have to drive like 300 miles just to get to a goddamn drug store in the middle of nowhere.
