Dr. Schoonmaker:

I have always enjoyed and learned from your posts and books, and your new article is no exception.

As one of the not-20-somethings on 2+2, the proliferation of "going pro?" and "drop out of college?" posts on 2+2 has also been worrisome to me, and I too applaud the thoughtful post you cited by revots33 (see psychology forum).

It seems to me that the time is long past for a new study of professional poker players (a la Hayano) -- are you going to do so? (I realize you are not an anthropologist.)

Just a thought.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope that revot and I dissaude a few people from messing up their lives.

You're right. I am not an anthropologist, and I could not do remotely as good a study as Hayano's.

Poker is so hot now that I would not be at all surprised if someone -- most likely a grad student -- is conducting such a study. If anyone knows of it, I would appreciate being informed.

Regards,

Al
