Villain is looser than...something really loose. (FWIW - I pulled the blind steal a litle later).

Nice hand.

Out of position against a loose guy? Why?

Why no raise in the early betting round?

My pokerstove runs it at 60% preflop equity vs. any random hand (which is what I assume a normal fish is playing). We're OOP, sure, but your postflop play is probably way superior to his.

Ok I'll take your word for it, because I am admittedly new, and I don't own a Poker Stove.

Wow. You're right

Hand 1: 59.9058 % [ 00.58 00.02 ] { Ah6h }
Hand 2: 40.0942 % [ 00.38 00.02 ] { random }

Jakesta

Is it truly random though? I think that even the best(and by that I mean the worst, but best for us) fish will only call 75% of theses raises.

So shouldn't we be matching it up against 75% of hands rather than 100% possible?

Definitely raise preflop. If you steal the big blind, that's great. If you're called or even 3 bet, there's a high percentage of the time you're ahead anyway, possibly by a wide margin.

I'd really prefer to just bet the flop. Villain probably won't put you on a big hand if you come out betting, and is likely to raise you with just about any piece of the board. If you check, you risk giving a free card which can be a catasrophe. Your line worked out great, but it won't always be so smooth.

I would say you'll get called more often than not in this situation. Also, consider that you win 1SB if villain folds.

Hell, as BB I'll call 90% of the time here if the SB raises first-in.

That is to say...I would agree I made a mistake by not raising this PF.

As much as us 2+2ers frown on fish who play any Ax, it's still a pretty damn good hand, especially HU.

On a side note, I just noticed my avatar got nuked...guess it's about time I changed it anyway.

I raise the vast majority of hands if folded to me in the small blind. This is more than enough hand to do that with.

As it played out, I don't like the post-flop play; by check-raising the turn you give him a great place to fold the hand. I'd probably either lead the flop or turn to look like I'm taking a shot at the pot.

Agreed. I like leading. Too often you'll miss bets by him either checking the flop or folding to the turn check/raise immediately.

Edit: I definitely raise preflop.

Interesting, thanks. Do people actually run equity calculations like this during a hand? It would seem cumbersome, but this could be good for post-hand analysis.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I don't have time to crunch the numbers in game time. But you're right about it being invaluable for post-game analysis.

It doesn't even have to be suited:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 57.6825 % [ 00.56 00.02 ] { Ac6h }
Hand 2: 42.3175 % [ 00.41 00.02 ] { random }

But, it's good to have an ace:

Hand 1: 47.8443 % [ 00.46 00.02 ] { Jc6h }
Hand 2: 52.1557 % [ 00.50 00.02 ] { random }
